Luke Whelan is the Managing Director of Social Meteor, helping WA brands grow through bold, social-first content and advertising. Under his leadership, the agency has partnered with iconic names like Chicken Treat, Kitchen Warehouse, RAC, Kleenheat and Harvest Road, delivering high-quality social strategies and campaigns that actually move the needle.Luke jumped on the Social Meteor bandwagon in 2018, a few years after it was first conceived by childhood friend and business partner Ben Hardy while they were living together in Fremantle.
He’s been in the game since the early Facebook days, writing his own playbook on how to make social media work for business. In 2014, he co-founded Perth is OK! as a tongue-in-cheek response to the city’s “dullsville” tag. What started as a side project has grown into WA’s largest independent media brand, with over 1.5 million social media followers, 1 million monthly website views and millions of #perthisok hashtags.Along the way, Luke’s picked up a few nods – named to the Business News Power 500 (Top 8 in Media, 2023–2025) and a four-time Young Entrepreneur of the Year finalist with Business News Australia.
